The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, Inc
Our mission is to be a vehicle for respecting and sharing the legacy of Black Wall Street, the Greenwood community of Tulsa, and their descendants through education, arts, commerce, and worldwide engagement. We do this from our base in the Original Black Wall Street where we preserve and protect the buildings on the 100 block of N. Greenwood Avenue to assure their long-term survival, community welfare, a sustainable environment, and continued use. Our mission was strengthened in 2021 when these buildings were officially placed on the National Registry of Historic Buildings and we opened a Women's Business Center. Going forward we are focusing on using our assets to help our community in North Tulsa and beyond. Your financial support will aid three priorities.
Priority 1: Preservation
Founded in 1926 to preserve the last remnants of Greenwood, the birthplace of "Black Wall Street," today we are so thankful for the Historic Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the role it plays in keeping the dream alive by maintaining the last ten buildings on Greenwood Avenue and telling our history as a people and how we can make it despite tragedy and turmoil. Help us preserve this historic landmark listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. We need your help to preserve and rebuild "Black Wall Street."
Priority 2: Small Business Support
This organization provides direct support to the 42 black businesses left on Black Wall Street. The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, Inc. started the Greenwood Business Incubator in 1995 to provide affordable rent and additional tools needed in regards to business coaching, expanding commerce, and procurement. Our mission is to provide support to black and minority businesses. We have partnered with countless corporations to provide grants for community organizations, historic restaurants, and minority businesses across the region. We need your help to continue this great effort to support small businesses and an economically disadvantaged community.
Priority 3: Empowerment and Self-Sustainability
The Greenwood Women’s Business Center, in partnership with the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, Inc., US Black Chambers, Inc., and Small Business Development Center, is the only women's center in Oklahoma that helps women and men, giving them the keys to having a successful business.
